Policies

Basic policies and rules of the site

Most of the following should be self explanatory and should be plain common sense. As we add new features (forums, membership, member pages, etc.), these rules will be revised, as necessary. The purpose of the site is to provide a community resource to help make navigating “Pagan internet content” a bit easier as well as to assist new practitioners/seekers and the more experienced practitioners connect with each other.

Our rules can be summarized by the phrase by Wil Wheaton – “don’t be a dick”. In other words, we are adults and should conduct ourselves in a responsible and respectful manner.

If you need further clarification, read on –

Commercial use:
NONE. No information on this site should be used for commercial purposes.

No playganism – role-playing paganism. There is a difference between fantasy and focused imagination as part of a magical or spiritual path.

No trolling, cyber-bullying, or hatespeak. This includes racist, homophobic, sexist, anti-Tradition/Religion and proselytizing remarks. This indluced no excessive profanity or insults.

Making a claim – If you make a claim, you will be questioned and asked to support it. The burden of proof lies in the claimant.

No spamming. Violators will be banned.

No nudity or pornographic content:
This site is public which means it’s accessible to everyone, even minors. We have a no nudity or pornographic content rule (applies to both text, external links and imagery) which is even posted in the areas where you upload photos. General rule, if they’re covered it’s ok – if you can see through it, it’s uncovered or depicts any type of sexual acts, it’s not ok. I know there are many artistic paintings out there depicting nudity so here is the legal terminology to add to this, let me note, even if you feel your nude photographs are artwork that does not negate that it is still nude photos; this goes for Photoshopped nude photos as well.

The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find, taken as a whole and with respect to minors, appeals to a prurient interest in nudity, sex, or excretion.

The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find depicts, describes, or represents, in a patently offensive way with respect to what is suitable for minors, ultimate sexual acts, normal or perverted, actual or simulated; sadomasochistic sexual acts or abuse; or lewd exhibitions of the genitals, pubic area, buttocks, or post-pubertal female breast, and

A reasonable person would find, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, hietorical, artistic, political, or scientific value.

The best rule here is:  If you are unsure if there is a question regarding the content that you want to post, err on the side of caution and ask before you post it :)

Pictures/Photos:
Do not post photos or images to which you do not have the rights. If you own the rights to a photo, you may attach it to your post or send it to us if you’d like it included in our library. Remember, we pay for the space we use, with that being said it’s important that the image you provide be a reasonable size. It’s preferable to post the url to an image or picture rather than posting the picture itself.

Videos:
As with photos, do not post them unless you have the rights to them. At the very least, you must credit the source and provide the originating url.

Copyrighted Content:
All rights for information and material remain with the © holder for said information. DO NOT reproduce without appropriate citation and reproduction of © information. If you notice any Content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party, please let us know including a way to contact the appropriate Content owner.
